This is your brain on drugs. Sprouted from the psychedelic minds of four sonic sorcerers in Ocean Beach, California is a sound like no other. This is Purple Kief.
While the world has been catatonic Purple Kief have been vibrating at opus level, creating soundscapes in patterns meant to awaken the mind and satisfy the spirit.
Honoring genres as diverse as post jazz, synth rock, ocean soul, and golden era hip hop while mind bogglingly melding them together seamlessly, Purple Kief have created a sound that can only be described as transcendent.

Based in Ocean Beach CA, Purple Kief started out as a few friends having jam sessions in a small apartment. In time, the jam sessions became song writing sessions and a distinctive sound began to emerge.
Purple Kief's uniqueness comes from the diverse and various backgrounds of its members;
A Pacific North West metal/hardcore drummer, Brad Boswell, an East Coast Hip Hop artist on bass Java, a San Diego sax virtuoso whose melodies are rooted in jazz, John "Rusty" Avery and a local guitarist that has played in several post rock/math rock bands in San Diego, Kenny Schulte.
Purple Kief has been described as jazz, psychedelic, ocean soul, rock, and post jazz. However, a proper description of their music remains elusive. They have transcended genre to become something new.
Purple Kief is an experience.
